Fall Classic Final Game Draws Over 50 Million Audience Members Across the United States, Canadian and Japanese Markets.

The nail-biting 11-inning clash that saw the Dodgers beat the Blue Jays by one run drew a combined over 50 million watchers across the US, Canadian, and Japan territories. MLB announced this represents the highest-rated Fall Classic Game 7 after the 1991 edition showdown featuring the Minnesota Twins and Atlanta Braves.

Television Ratings Details

The Saturday memorable contest drew 27.33M audience members on Fox Sports networks, its Spanish-language channel and their streaming platforms. Per ratings data, it was the second highest-rated program of the week.

It additionally is the top-rated World Series game after the 2017 final game between the Los Angeles Dodgers and Astros, which drew 29.07M. This marks a sixteen percent increase over the previous Game 7 between the Washington Nationals and Astros, which attracted 23.19 million viewers.

In the weekly rankings, the sixth game ranked fourth, the fourth game ranked seventh, Game 5 was eighth, and the third game finished in 13th place.

Global Audience Numbers

In the Canadian market, the game recorded 11.6 million watchers on the Sportsnet network and the French TVA Sports. This made it the most-watched English program in the country after the 2010 edition Winter Olympics.

In Japan, where the final contest started at 9 PM local time, it attracted 12 million. This followed last Friday’s sixth game – in which World Series MVP Yoshinobu Yamamoto gave up one run in six innings – drew over 13 million viewers, making it the most-watched Fall Classic game on a single network in Japan.

Overall Totals and Patterns

The full seven-game World Series averaged 15.71M audience members on Fox, a two percent increase from the previous year’s Dodgers versus Yankees series. This marks the first time after 2015 and ‘16 that the World Series has seen audience increases for two straight seasons.

Including the opening game broadcast on Univision, the complete American average was over 16 million. The overall Fall Classic viewership in Japan was 9.7M and 8.1 million in the Canadian market.

The full MLB Postseason on Fox, FS1 and FS2 averaged over 8 million viewers, an eight percent increase compared to the previous year and the network’s strongest postseason ratings since the 2017 season.

Major League Baseball announced that the Fall Classic was televised in 203 countries and territories by forty-four broadcasting partners in sixteen different languages.
